Mettlach 8202.

Es handelt sich um eine Grosse Kanne Höhe 26 cm

Eine kleinere Kanne 12cm ( hat einen kleinen Abplatzer an der Tülle )

Einen Zuckertopf

Eine Milchkännchen

6 Eierbecher

die Teile sind dem alter entsprechend noch in gutem Zustand. Ein Eierbecher hat einen kleinen Riss, der Rest ist denke ich mal gut auf den Fotos zu erkennen.

Schaut auch meine anderen Auktionen an, es sind noch ein paar sehr schöne alte Stücke zu ergattern.

Unterteller V&B, Durchmesser ca. 14,4 cm Beschriftung Rückseite: Villeroy&Boch 8202 handgemalt Teller ist sehr alt und hat daher einige Gebrauchsspuren und kleine schwarze Flecke. Hierbei handelt es sich um einen Privatverkauf, daher keine Rücknahme und keine Garantie.

I've acquired an egg cup and saucer from eBay. US$1.99.

Up for bid is a delightful vintage mini cup and saucer. I am unsure of the pattern name, it is a blue,plum and black plaid. The cup measures 1 1/2" X 2 2/8" across, the saucer measures 4 3/8". There are markings on the back of the saucer that read: V&B, M in a circle, BAAR 8202, the finer print I cannot make out. This is a vintage piece. The cup has two very small nicks on the rim, the saucer has no sratches, chips or marks that I can see. Very Good vintage condition. An unusual set.

Missed out on this cake platter. It sold for 4.98 euros.

Saucer acquired from eBay. 1.99 euros.

Es handelt sich um einen einzelnen Unterteller der Marke Villeroy & Boch in kariert schwarz-weinrot-grau Nr. 8202 Vielleicht gibt es einen Service-Besitzer, dem noch ein Tellerchen fehlt.

According to eBay, that platter I mentioned yesterday was made in Germany Saar ... everything else so far has been stamped France Saar.

So the platter must have been made after the Saarland returned to Germany in 1955?

Update: the Saarland returned to Germany on 1 January, 1957, so everything marked "France-Saar" must have been made between 1947 and 1956, and anything marked "Germany Saar" 1957 onwards.[1]

Pictures from eBay of a jug and platter. The owner won't ship to Australia which isn't so bad as I think I already have the jug. Sold for 8.52 euros.

Update: a rough translation of the measurements reveals that the jug is the same as the one I just bought.

The Villeroy & Boch company's history begins in 1748, when François Boch began manufacturing ceramic tableware.

In 1812, Jean-François Boch started work on a state-of-the-art ceramics factory in an abandoned abbey in the town of Mettlach in the Saarland.

In 1836, Jean-François Boch and Nicolas Villeroy merged their ceramics businesses into Villeroy & Boch.

In 1918 the Company was divided among French, German, Polish, and Baltic state territory as a result of World War I surrender accords. The Saarland, site of two Villeroy & Boch factories, was ceded to France.

In the latter half of the 1930s, the Nazi government declared the company nonessential for the war effort and closed its factory in the Saarland (which had returned to Germany after a popular plebiscite).

After World War II, France once again took over the Saarland, cutting the company's headquarters in Mettlach off from the rest of Germany.

Company head Luitwin von Boch, who was given political responsibilities by the Allies, worked at reducing tensions between Germans and the French occupation. He lobbied for the Europeanization of the Saarland - establishing it as an autonomous region that was neither French nor German. The movement was dashed when the area's population voted in 1955 to be German.
